Meet the NYS TESOL Member of the Month for October 2016
Camille Embus Perez
New York City Region
has been working at St. John's University since 2011, as both an
instructor and administrator for The Language Connection as well as an
adjunct professor for the university’s credit ESOL program. Before
working at St. John's, she taught in West Africa as an elementary
teacher for 2 1/2 years at a diverse school that sparked her passion
for working in the ESOL field. Camille holds a B.S in Elementary
Education from The University of Tennessee and an M.S. in TESOL from
St. John's University.
She has been a member of NYS TESOL for 2 years now and in these 2 short
years she has had many opportunities to grow as a professional. She has
been able to stay current on topics in the field, meet and engage other
professionals about what she loves (teaching!), and work with other NYS
TESOL volunteers through serving as the Student Projects Contest
Coordinator for NYS TESOL. Having the opportunity to volunteer
has really connected her to NYS TESOL in a way that is more rewarding
than she could have imagined.
