Ebru Altay Damkaci joined the SUNY Oswego as Coordinator for ESL programs in April 2012. As the Coordinator of ESL Programs she is responsible for planning, scheduling, recruiting, promoting, hiring, registering and advising for Intensive English programs and English for Academic Purpose classes.

In addition, Ebru is the academic support staff to international students and to students whose first language is not English at SUNY Oswego. She helps with many of the concerns or challenges these students may face whether they are academic or cultural in nature.

Previously Ebru worked as an ESL teacher and served as the Head of the English Department at a private high school in Turkey. After she moved to the US in 2001 she worked at Berlitz Language Institute in Boston as an ESL instructor.

She holds a BS in American Culture and Literature and MS with thesis in American Culture and Literature from Ege University, Turkey. She also holds ESL teaching certificate.

Ebru is glad to be a member of NYS TESOL which gives her the opportunity to work directly with TESOL professionals. Annual conference offers many growth and development opportunities for the teachers and the administrators to learn from one another and from experts in the field. She looks forward to future conferences.
