2019 Teacher Materials Grant Winners

Congratulations to our 2019 Teacher Materials Grants Recipients! 

NYS TESOL is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2019 Teacher Materials Grants and their winning proposals. The NYS TESOL Teacher Materials Grants are made available to support teachers using innovative pedagogies to engage students in active learning. 

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success.

The 2019 Teacher Materials Grants recipients are:


Anna Mantagas, ENL/Special Education and Theatre Arts teacher, works at the Brooklyn Institute for Liberal Arts in New York City. Ms. Mantagas is using her teacher grant funds to have her ELLs interact with theatre via texts, in-class acting and character analysis workshops, as well as live performances.
Higher Education

Dinara Yeung Gilmanova, Mark Romig, and Raj Srinivasan are instructors in various programs around New York City and founders of English ARTS (Andragogical Resources and Teaching Strategies) and TALK (Teaching Accessible Language Knowledge), an initiative dedicated to empowering the modern English Language Learner with 21st century skills through multi-modal virtual instruction. They will use their grant funds to develop engaging and high-quality instructional videos.
